Experience affirms confidence to host major international sporting events
Ras Al Khaimah, UAE – Mangrove, a luxury 4-star property of Bin Majid Hotels & Resorts in Ras Al Khaimah, hosted the stay of the world’s best young players and officials from seven countries that competed in the recently concluded 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup tournament.
A total of 280 players and officials from Brazil, Honduras, Italy, Uruguay, Slovakia, Ivory Coast and New Zealand stayed at Mangrove which became their temporary home between 13th to 30th October when the matches were held at Emirates Club Stadium in Ras Al Khaimah.

It’s one of the most important sporting events worldwide and hosting them is indeed a great honour for the country, the property and the whole team. The event draws the attention of sports enthusiasts from around the globe to the UAE. It proves that we can play host to any major event. It also highlights Ras Al Khaimah as a tourist destination. Fans who watched the game drove to the emirate and this also brought additional revenue for the property.”
The competition took place at six UAE venues - Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Emirates Stadium in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah Stadium, Sharjah Stadium, Rashid Stadium in Dubai and Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain. Nigeria won this year’s tournament after defeating Mexico in the final claiming the country’s fourth title. Sweden won the bronze over Argentina in the third place playoff match.
Aside from hosting the teams, RAK also arranged visit to famous tourist attractions in RAK such as the National Museum of RAK, Dhayah Fort, Sheba’s Palace, Al Jazira Al Hamra, Al Falayah and the traditional souk.
